Die Vereinten Nationen haben das Diplomatic Council (DC) um Mithilfe ersucht, mit dem DC über ein Memorandum of Understand (MoU) verbundene Organisationen von den Werten und Zielen der UNO zu überzeugen. Das Diplomatic Council kommt dieser Aufforderung nach und geht noch einen Schritt weiter und bietet Non Governmental Organizsations (NGO) in Partnerschaft mit dem DC eine professionelle UN-Beratung an. Ziel ist es, den UNO-Beraterstatus zu erlangen, der unter anderem Transparenz und Relevanz für die Vereinten Nationen voraussetzt. Die Beziehung zwischen den Vereinten Nationen und dem Diplomatic Council bezeichnet die UNO als „good standing“.
„Good Standing“
Wörtlich teilt die UNO dem Diplomatic Council mit: „Please be a advised that your consultative status with ECOSOC is in good standing and no action in this regard is required. We acknowledge your ongoing contribution to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and we appeal to you to reach your network to join in the global effort. With that objective, we would like to kindly request you to post the following announcement on your website or social media platform encouraging NGOs to apply for ECOSOC consultative status. NGOs interested in applying for ECOSOC consultative status should submit their application and required documents. We greatly appreciate your support.“
Zur Erklärung: ECOSOC bezeichnet das Economic and Social Council der Vereinten Nationen, das den Beraterstatus an ausgewählte und geprüfte Organisationen wie das Diplomatic Council vergibt.
Mit dem Diplomatic Council verbundene Organisationen können über das DC Generalsekretariat Kontakt zu UNO-Fragen aufnehmen. Ein Erstgespräch darüber ist im Rahmen der DC Summer Celebration am 28. Juni bei Frankfurt möglich.
