We are deeply saddened to follow news reports on the fire that caused extensiv damage to section of the iconic and majestic Notre-Dame de Paris.

We, the members of the Diplomatic Council, share the profound sorrow felt by the people of France over the destruction caused to such a magnificent cathedral enjoying universal awe and inspiration

It is our fervent hope that the damaged roof and spire of the Notre-Dame cathedral would be restored to its original glory with the support of the global community.

We hope with the tremendous goodwill and support expressed by the international community, including UNESCO, that restoration work on the burnt section of the cathedral would be completed to enable visitors to worship and enjoy the majestic beauty of Notre-Dame cathedral.
